FAQ
1) How do your sessions usually work?
I start with an informal assessment of different primary reflexes. I will stimulate a specific area and watch and feel or observe any response. Reflexes can be normal or their age, low functioning, dysfunctional or very dysfunction. I look for timing, strength, direction. Every reflex in an infant up to about 2 years has a genetic/DNA imprint. All of us are born with this imprint and it can be stimulated and seen easily in neuro-typical children. We can stimulate a reflex in this “snap shot of time”, observe the response and depending on the response of each reflex we can determine our path of priorities.
2) What does your $150/hour fee include for the evaluation?
My goal is to begin assessing reflexes and how the person perceives touch along with auditory and visual stimulation. I usually provide the parent with some rudimentary understanding of reflex stimulation and response. I usually provide some recommendations for a home program. I can provide at Cost “The Parent Guide to MNRI” for $45.00 or can be purchased through Masgutova Website.
3) How long does a typical session usually last (with evaluation and training)?
It depends on your availability and resources. I suggest between three to six hours and no less than two hours.
4) What does an intensive include?
Three or four 50-minute sessions. How will the sessions be set up time frame wise? 50 minute sessions for example 9:00 - 9:50, 10 min break, 10:00 - 10:50, 10 min break, 11:00 - 11:50 Lunch 11:50 - 1:00, 1:00 - 1:50, I almost always begin with Neurostructrual Reflex Integration or Tactile Integration. I may then start Reflex Integration work. I usually address as many of the priorities as possible.
5) About how many times per week should we be doing these exercises?
Different reflexes and techniques will be from 2 to 3 or 5 times a week. It will be given in your home program as a suggestion.
6) How often do you recommend coming back for more meetings/assessments?
That depends on your expectations and what therapies you are doing now. Tell me about your child/person you are concerned about, what amount of time can you realistically work with your child 5 days a week.
How often realistically as a commitment are you willing to see a MNRI specialist? I feel that once every two months for a three or four day intensive two hours minimum, four hours maximum as a starting point. Once a reflex begins to function properly a minimum of three months with continued home program will be needed for myelination of the pathways, longer if there are neurological damages.
Other services, depending upon the level of integration/disfunction I can make other suggestions. I teach a two-day parent course as a basic training of how to carry out some of the most commonly recommended reflexes or techniques (this would be a scheduled class (sixteen hr course) with a minimum of eight parents).
Prices vary based on my expenses and I offer packages.
1. $150 per hour + all expenses to be paid by family. This is for one therapist and training the parent any techniques would most likely have to have another adult to help with the child if in the same room. Break down 3 hours per day for 4 days. Total of 12- 50-minute sessions.
$1,440 + all expenses paid by parent with a $1000 deposit nonrefundable if parent cancels “after” airline and hotel tickets have been secured or actual cost “whichever is less” example, if airline ticket has been purchased for $500 and the hotel has a free cancelation policy then parent would get $500 back from the $1000 deposit.
2. $175 per hour no expenses for parent $2100 total. This is for one therapist and training the parent any techniques would most likely have to have another adult to help with the child if in the same room. Break down 3 hours per day for 4 days total of 12- 50-minute sessions. $1000 deposit nonrefundable if parent cancels “after” airline and hotel tickets have been secured or actual cost “whichever is less”.
3. I also offer a co-treatment session where another therapist would come with me depending on availability. This would be about 24 hours of therapy and training condensed into 3-hour sessions per day for 4 days total. Total cost for 2 therapists $4200. This type of therapy offers unique possibilities for the children, parents and therapist.
“Why two therapists?” Think of it in terms of asking a carpenter to come to do work in your home, one set of hands to work on the project, the number of extra steps needed to complete the project. Now think of how the progress is increased when two experienced carpenters work together to do your project, you get over 2 times the work done. In my real-life experiences there were therapy sessions where I would have gotten very little done because of the challenge that the child had with life in general and luckily there were two of us that allowed us to get a tremendous amount of technique into the session.
Example:
a. Child is getting 2 times the focus by 2 therapists, one therapist may notice the need to do a specific technique and the brainstorming that occurs when two people work together can make a big difference in the outcome. The therapist can work together providing synchronized techniques such as Neuro Tactile Integration, NeuroStructural Reflex Integration, Primary Reflexes, Archetype Integration, etc.
b. If the child has anxiety or resistance to one technique, or all techniques in general the extra therapist can distract the child or do a separate technique while the other therapist focuses on what he or she deems the priority.
c. One therapist can continue work on the child while the other therapist provides training to the parent without the need of another adult that may or may not be trained in the techniques that would normally be provided you the parent.
